    Norway evaluation

Synthesis of the evaluation report of the Sterinis® process for the disinfection of units of care in a large University hospital (Oslo/Norway)

The evaluation of Sterinis® done in a large University hospital (Oslo/Norway) was carried out on five sites presenting five different situations so much in term of risk (block of surgery) than of difficulty of disinfecting (ambulances).

The selected strain "Bacillus Subtilis" is a positive gram bacterium of stick type forming endospores with a short division cycle. This sporulated form makes this bacterium able to survive and to develop in an even not very nutritive environment.

The results are presented for each situation. The tables present for each point of measurement, the quantity of spores deposited (first line), the number of spores remaining after disinfection (second line). The third line corresponding to control of the deposit.

For each situation, cycle parameters selected are indicated.

The results highlight the principal following points:

  • Sterinis® is a device making possible to diffuse a disinfecting dry mist in all the volume of the room, even in not directly accessible areas (see results of the test on the ambulances).

  • Sterinis® is adapted to medical devices disinfection present in the treated room (see results of the test in block of surgery).

  • Sterinis® makes possible to reach a very high level of disinfection respecting the standards applied in the establishments of health.
